The Bad Ad
Dodge: Man's last stand.
Media Agency :
Wieden + Kennedy, New York, USA.

"I will get up and walk the dog at 6:30am. I will eat some fruit as part of my breakfast. I will shave. I will clean the sink after I shave. I will be at work by 8am. I will sit through two-hour meetings. I will say yes when you want me to say yes. I will be quiet when you don't want to hear me say no. I will take your call. I will listen to your opinion of my friends. I will listen to your friends' opinions of my friends. I will be civil to your mother. I will put the seat down. I will separate the recycling. I will carry your lip balm. I will watch your vampire TV shows with you. I will take my socks off before getting into bed. I will put my underwear in the basket. And because I do this, I will drive the car I WANT TO DRIVE."
This ad was diffused for the final of the Super Bowl in America in 2010.
The ad is showing man suffering from the pressure that his girlfriend/wife is having on his life, then because of this pressure the only part of 'freedom' left to this poor man is presented as sport dodge car.
The campaign has been very criticized, particularly by the feminist and gay community that estimates the ad very exaggerated.
In fact the life of this poor guy seems to be a complete misery, full of suffering and duties.
Dodge aimed to create a funny ad, but funny ads can be very controversial and easily turn to a big fail, and here it the case!
First, because all mens would not recognize themselves into that character. There is in my opinion a lot of pride in a man's soul and they don't want to be associated as a victim on a daily basis.
Secondly, because it obviously identify woman as being pain for mans in their life.
Finally, because I doubt that consumers will see the car as a solution to resolve their relationship issues.
Concerning the product we can't even see what are the features or the price.
So despite the high level of audience during the Super Bowl the ad has been classified as a Fail, and as not funny! Dodgy!
